PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam on Saturday said the federal government was facing serious governance issues and had been given six months’ time.
In a statement, he said that a government suffering from poor governance was in no position to assess the performance of others.
Muzzammil Aslam said that the prime minister should explain where the “Urraan Pakistan Programme” had gone, and Ahsan Iqbal should clarify the current status of the projects under his ministry.
He questioned how much budget the Federal Ministry of Planning and Development was released in the first six months, and how many projects had been completed since 2022.
The advisor on finance said that Ahsan Iqbal should explain what progress had been made on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) since 2022, and the prime minister should clarify that between 2022 and 2025, loans amounting to Rs35,000 billion were taken and how many development projects were completed with this amount.
He said the prime minister should explain why the country was facing the highest unemployment rate in 21 years, and the government should explain how 45 percent of the population had fallen below the poverty line. In light of all these questions, he demanded that first of all, a committee should be formed to review the federal government’s four years performance.
