RAWALPINDI: The Cantonment police have registered an FIR against former prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas over an alleged armed attempt to seize a family property.

Reportedly, the attempt to seize the property was conducted under his direct orders.

The FIR, filed by Raja Shahzad Sultan, details a scene at a hotel allegedly owned by the former premier’s brothers. The complaint alleged Sardar Tanveer directed a group of armed associates to occupy the hotel. The group allegedly threatened staff and occupants at gunpoint, confined them in rooms, and issued explicit life-threatening warnings.

Witnesses reported that the assailants were armed with rifles, creating a scene of extreme intimidation and fear.

The FIR specifically names Sardar Tanveer Ilyas as the principal orchestrator. Several accomplices have also been identified.

According to the complaint, the accused acted in coordination under direct guidance of Ilyas, mobilising armed individuals to execute the illegal takeover, which represents a serious and calculated abuse of power.

The FIR cites several critical sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), underscoring the severity of the alleged offenses.

It includes Section 448, which deals with criminal trespass, highlighting the unlawful entry and occupation of property. Section 342 addresses wrongful confinement, reflecting the fact that hotel staff and occupants were allegedly locked in rooms against their will. The complaint also invokes Section 109, relating to abetment of an offense, emphasizing Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ role as the alleged mastermind directing the operation.

Furthermore, Sections 148 and 149 of the PPC, pertaining to rioting and unlawful assembly, have been included, signaling that multiple individuals coordinated their actions to carry out the illegal occupation.

Finally, Section 506(ii), covering criminal intimidation, is cited due to the explicit threats to life issued to anyone who resisted the takeover. Authorities have confirmed that the FIR has been registered and a formal investigation is underway.
