ISLAMABAD: Former chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has strongly condemned what he described as a new wave of imperialism in the form of actions taken against Venezuela, calling it a blatant violation of international law and state sovereignty.
“The new wave of imperialism in shape of the action in Venezuela is condemned in the strongest terms as the action in Venezuela is against the sovereignty of an independent state and international law,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Rabbani said the action was aimed to take control of the oil reserves in the country, adding: “This is a new form of colonialism”. He also condemned threats of such attacks on Colombia, Mexico and Cuba.
Referring to Cuba’s revolutionary history, the former chairman Senate said it should be remembered that Cuba happens to be the land of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.
“Cuba has been the graveyard of imperialism,” he said, adding: “Down with imperialism.”
