RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism court in Rawalpindi has provided defence lawyers a copy of the government notification regarding a video-link trial in the GHQ attack case and adjourned proceedings until January 20. The court also issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 40 absent accused.

During the hearing, former chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, and Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared alongside the prosecution team.

The defence requested permission to meet their client in Adiala Jail, stating they required his instructions on the case. The prosecution opposed this, noting that the PTI founder is on bail in this particular case and is no longer under the court’s custody. They added that, as a convicted individual, he is now under the jurisdiction of the jail superintendent, and meeting arrangements must be sought through jail authorities.

The defence lawyer insisted that without access to their client, they would not participate in the proceedings.

In response, the court issued non-bailable warrants for the absent accused, provided the video-link trial notification to the defence, and adjourned the hearing.
