MANSEHRA: A Motorway Police employee was killed and 10 other people, including women and children, sustained critical injuries when two vehicles collided head-on at high speed at
the Ichrian Interchange on the Hazara Motorway early Monday.
According to police, the accident occurred when two motorcars — one entering the Hazara Motorway and the other exiting — collided head-on due to over-speeding. The police and rescue workers rushed the injured to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced Mohammad Noman, identified as a Motorway Police employee, dead. Five of the injured were later referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, due to their critical condition.
A police press release said that police personnel reached the spot immediately after the incident and assisted Rescue 1122 in shifting the injured to health facilities. A case was registered and investigation launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
