PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusivity, interfaith harmony, and equal rights for all citizens as he attended the New Year’s celebrations at St. John’s Cathedral Church, Peshawar Cantt, on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, he extended New Year’s greetings to the Christian community and other residents of the province. He highlighted the important role and valuable contributions of religious minorities in the social, cultural, and economic development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The governor said that the Pakistan People’s Party has always been at the forefront in safeguarding and promoting the rights of minorities, ensuring dignity, security, and equal opportunities for all.
Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters appreciated the governor’s consistent support for inclusivity and his continued engagement with minority communities, acknowledging his efforts to foster unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
After the formal proceedings, the governor joined church leaders and participants in a cake-cutting ceremony. He interacted with attendees, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and shared celebration that marked the New Year’s event.
In his New Year’s message, the governor expressed hope that the year would bring peace, stability, and prosperity to the province and Pakistan. He said the New Year is a time for reflection, renewal, and collective resolve, emphasizing that despite challenges, the people of KP have always shown resilience, courage, patience, and unity.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to peace, good governance, economic development, and social harmony across the province. He expressed optimism that the New Year would mark progress toward lasting peace, stronger institutions, and inclusive development, particularly for youth, women, and marginalized communities.
Calling upon all segments of society to work together in a spirit of unity, tolerance, and responsibility, the governor prayed that the New Year would bring safety, stability, and hope to every household, and that Pakistan continues to move forward on the path of peace, dignity, and democratic values.
