MINGORA: Tourists have thronged scenic spots in Swat as the valleys continue to receive rain and snowfall over the last two days.
Popular destinations such as Kalam, Malam Jabba, and Miandam have witnessed an increase in visitors following the snowfall. Snow-covered mountains and breathtaking natural scenery have become major attractions for tourists.
The beauty of winter is at its peak in the upper areas. Continuous snowfall in Kalam and heavy snow in Mahodand has further intensified the cold. In Gabin Jabba, snowfall persisted for the second consecutive day, covering the mountains in a pristine white blanket.
However, the rain and snowfall have partially disrupted daily life in some areas. Locals, in response to the cold weather, have started taking precautionary measures to stay safe and warm.
Meanwhile, the upper parts of the Hazara division received rain and snowfall, pushing the mercury down to below zero degrees Celsius.
The Rescue 1122 has been placed on high alert to deal with any untoward situation arising from the inclement weather.
The scattered rain, which began in Lower Kohistan, Upper Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas districts, continued intermittently throughout the day, further intensifying the cold.
High-altitude areas, including the Kandia and Spat valleys in Upper Kohistan, as well as Semo Dara, Chowarda Dera, Miraza Dera, and Dubair valley in Lower Kohistan, received the season’s first snowfall.
According to a press release issued by Rescue 1122, due to the harsh cold in most upper regions, machinery and personnel have been repositioned to respond promptly to any emergency.
The statement said that rescue teams have been deployed at tourist resort Shogran, Mansehra city, Barkund, Oghi, Kawai, and other parts of the lower Kaghan valley.
