Rawalpindi : The Rawalpindi Traffic Police has finalised a comprehensive security and traffic management strategy ahead of New Year’s Eve to ensure public safety and the smooth flow of vehicles across the city. Under the direct supervision of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, the department has deployed a force of over 600 personnel to manage the anticipated surge in activity and prevent illegal street stunts.

The traffic plan, formulated by Traffic Headquarters Inspector Muhammad Waseem, places a heavy emphasis on curbing dangerous behaviors such as one-wheeling, street racing, and drifting. Seven specialised squads have been established to patrol high-risk corridors, including the Mall, Peshawar Road, Bank Road, Jhelum Road, and Murree Road. These units are supported by strategically placed checking pickets designed to intercept violators and maintain order on the city’s primary arteries.

CTO Farhan Aslam has issued strict directives to all circle and sector in-charges to maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward traffic violations. This includes a crackdown on vehicles with tinted windows, non-standard or missing license plates, and unregistered motorcycles. The CTO emphasised that no negligence will be tolerated, urging his officers to fulfill their duties with the highest level of responsibility and coordination. Concluding the security briefing, the CTO appealed to parents to play a proactive role in public safety by monitoring their children’s activities.
