LAHORE: The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation has banned player Ubaidullah Rajput till further decision regarding his participation in an international event representing India.

The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) held its General Council meeting in Lahore under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Chairman of the PKF and Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce. Several key decisions were taken to promote the sport and enforce discipline, including the immediate suspension of a prominent player.

The federation announced a ban on Ubaidullah Rajput, who was found guilty of violating PKF rules. Rajput had participated in matches in India without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PKF and was further penalized for misconduct after wrapping the Indian flag around his body. His actions were strongly condemned by the council, which unanimously ratified the decision to ban him until further notice.

To safeguard the integrity of the sport, the PKF approved new regulations. Players will now require mandatory NOCs before traveling abroad for matches, even for personal sporting engagements. Strict action will be taken against individuals treating Kabaddi as a private business without official authorization. A five-member investigative committee has been formed to probe violations, with instructions to submit its report within three weeks. Additionally, all Kabaddi clubs and players across Pakistan must now be officially registered, and no tournament can be organized without prior approval from the federation.

Looking ahead, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain emphasized Kabaddi’s popularity, calling it the most followed sport in Pakistan after cricket.
