LAHORE: In connection with an alleged corruption scandal at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), resignations of four officers, including a deputy director, have been approved, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The resignations were formally approved and accepted by the interior ministry secretary with effect from November 20, added the officials. Those whose resignations were accepted include Deputy Director Muhammad Sarfaraz Chaudhry, Assistant Director Muhammad Usman, Assistant Director Muhammad Shoaib Riaz and Assistant Director Asma Majeed.
Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reported the arrest of four NCCIA officers, including former additional director Sarfaraz Chaudhry, on charges of alleged bribery and misuse of authority. The arrests were made following registration of a case on the complaint of Aroob Jatoi, the wife of YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, according to the FIA sources.
The accused officers are currently in the FIA custody and were scheduled to be produced before the Lahore district court. The First Information Report (FIR) states that an amount of Rs9 million was allegedly received from the YouTuber’s family as a bribe to secure relief in a case.
Separately, the office of the Director General, NCCIA, Islamabad, issued a notification stating that the four officers had been relieved from the NCCIA duties with effect from the afternoon of December 12, 2025, with the approval of the competent authority.
The notification names the relieved officers as Muhammad Sarfaraz Chaudhry (Deputy Director Regional, BS-18), Muhammad Usman (Assistant Director, Hardware Engineer, BS-17), Muhammad Shoaib Riaz (Assistant Director Investigation, BS-17), and Asma Majeed (Assistant Director, BS-17).
