LAHORE:Former Minister and Chairman & President of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Ibrahim Hasan Murad has termed Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s decision to extend the laptop scheme to students of private universities a commendable initiative.

He said the move would enable millions of students to gain effective access to digital education and modern future-ready skills. Ibrahim Hasan Murad stressed that Pakistan’s youth are the nation’s most valuable asset and sustained investment in their education and skills is the key to a bright, stable and prosperous future.

To enhance the impact of the laptop scheme, he proposed the inclusion of over 100 verified, skills-based courses to help students acquire practical competencies alongside academic learning.

He highlighted that providing students with free or subsidised internet access could significantly expand opportunities in employment, freelancing and digital entrepreneurship. He added that digital skills, online work and innovation-driven ventures can empower young people, promote self-reliance and strengthen the national economy.
