ABBOTTABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has intensified its probe into the abduction and murder of Dr Warda Mushtaq by conducting site inspections at key locations linked to the crime, sources said on Tuesday.
The JIT visited the house near Jadoon Plaza where Dr Warda was allegedly murdered and also inspected the spot on Thandiani Road in Lari Banohta from where her body was recovered.During the visits, statements of local residents were recorded to corroborate the sequence of events. The team also recorded statements of the SHO and DSP of Cantonment Police Station, along with other investigating officers associated with the case.
The investigators informed the court that significant progress has been made after arrested accused Parvez confessed to his involvement in the crime. Police sources confirmed that the investigation officer has filed an appeal before the Peshawar High Court seeking additional physical remand of the accused, arguing that the case is highly sensitive and that further custody is essential for an effective and conclusive investigation.
During the course of the investigation, police sources confirmed that gold was recovered from the possession of Waheed Billa, the husband of the alleged prime mastermind Rida Jadoon besides recovery of 10 receipts and cheques worth Rs.123 million. They further confirm recovery of murder weapon-a rope used to strangle Dr Warda-on the identification of the suspects.
Investigation officers stated that all legal requirements have been fulfilled, including the identifi-cation of crime scenes and locations where the offence was planned.According to investigators, the initial plan to abduct and murder Dr Warda was devised at the residence of Waheed Billa, involving Waheed Billa, Rida, and Nadeem. A second planning meeting was held at Waheed Billa’s shop, attended by Waheed, Nadeem, and Shamrez. The final planning session reportedly took place at Sheikh Dheri, where Shamrez, Nadeem, and Parvez finalised the plan.The investigation team has presented all available evidence and witnesses before the court as part of the ongoing proceedings, the sources added.
