PESHAWAR: Khyber District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmad has said that aggressive operations will be conducted against ice (methamphetamine) and other drugs to uproot the menace from society.

The newly appointed DPO, who recently assumed charge, has directed all sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) to take effective measures to improve law and order.

“Special operations have been planned against narcotics, especially ice and heroin, as these drugs have affected the lives of thousands of families,” Waqar Ahmad told The News. He said action would be taken against manufacturers, dealers, and traffickers across Khyber district.

Ice has emerged as a serious issue across the country over the past several years. Despite the presence of multiple agencies working against drugs, the situation has worsened further over the last decade.
