PESHAWAR: The long-awaited 30-kilometre Peshawar Northern Bypass will finally be completed after 17 years, as Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud has ordered strict round-the-clock monitoring to ensure no further delays.
The accelerated plan aims to clear bottlenecks, release pending compensation, and unlock Rs 5 billion in remaining federal funding.The deputy commissioners of Peshawar and Khyber have been tasked with daily inspections, removal of obstacles, and strict adherence to deadlines.
Underpass construction at two critical points on Nasir Bagh Road will also be fast-tracked.The commissioner said: “Construction must continue without interruption. Any negligence that delays the project will face strict disciplinary action.” I will personally conduct weekly inspections to monitor progress”.
Traffic management on Ring Road, GT Road, University Road, and Jamrud Road was discussed in a meeting chaired by the commissioner, with officials aiming to ease congestion on routes from Punjab, KP districts, and towards Afghanistan.
