LAHORE:Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (Tepa) has decided to upgrade traffic signals and pelican system in the provincial metropolis.
This was announced in a review meeting held at the Tepa office under LDA DG Tahir Farooq on upgrade of traffic signals. The meeting reviewed the progress of installing modern traffic signals at 20 important locations in the city.
Tepa Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain and Director Traffic Engineering gave a briefing on the upgrade of traffic signals at 20 important junctions of the City and said that after the success of the pilot project at Faisal Chowk, modern traffic signals will be installed at other locations. A video vehicle detection system will also be installed in these modern signals.
The installation of the modern pelican system will provide convenience to pedestrians. The modern signals will be linked to the PSCA traffic system and the traffic police. DG Tahir Farooq said that the installation of the pelican system will improve traffic flow and enhance beauty. The meeting was also briefed on the progress of ongoing development projects in the city. It was informed that Tepa was working on Neela Gumbad Underground Parking Plaza, remodeling of Data Darbar and Nasser Bagh Underground Parking Plaza. LDA DG directed to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of all development projects through cameras.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of DG, the LDA Town Planning Wing was active and teams conducted operations against illegal commercial buildings in LDA controlled areas and sealed 63 properties.
The operations were conducted in Gulberg, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Sabzazar, Samanabad and Gulshan Ravi. Around 17 properties were sealed in Gulberg and Faisal Town for illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercial fees. During the recovery operation, 28 properties were sealed in Allama Iqbal Town and Sabzazar Scheme and 18 properties were sealed in Samanabad and Gulshan Ravi.
