PSCA alerts citizens about fake e-challan messages

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has warned citizens about the recent surge in fake e-challan SMS being sent to the public with the intent of committing fraud and causing financial loss. According to details, the Authority never asks for cash, bank details, or account information through SMS. It has been clarified that any e-challan message received from a number other than the official Punjab Government number 8070 should be considered fake.

Fraudsters attempt to deceive citizens by sending unauthenticated links designed to access their bank accounts and steal money. Citizens are advised not to make any payments through suspicious SMS messages. Any suspicious or fake messages should be reported immediately to 15 or the FIA Cyber Crime Wing. A genuine e-challan SMS always includes details such as the time, location, and nature of the traffic violation, allowing citizens to verify the information easily.
