Police on Tuesday traced and arrested a suspect for openly displaying a modern firearm using the Safe City Project cameras, registering the first case of its kind in the city.
According to the police, the Sindh inspector general had recently directed that Safe City cameras be used to identify individuals involved in the open display of weapons. Acting on these instructions, the system detected a private security guard brandishing a sophisticated firearm near Shaheen Complex.
The police said surveillance footage helped trace the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the security guard, who was employed by a private company. A case has been registered against him at the Aram Bagh police station.
