ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s founding member Akbar S Babar has said Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s elders had Sheikh Mujibur Rahman acquitted through an All-Parties Conference (APC) in Agartala Conspiracy Case.
He said it further strengthened separatist movement in East Pakistan “Today his descendants are trying to secure Imran Khan’s release through another APC”, Akbar S Babar said in a statement posted on social media. “A true believer is not stung twice from the same hole”, he remarked.
He said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s close associate, Shaukat Ali, had stood in the Bangladesh Parliament on February 22, 2011 and declared he and Mujib had gone to Indian city of Agartala and, with Indian intelligence agency RAW, plotted breakup of Pakistan.
“But under pressure from so-called champions of democracy in West Pakistan at the time, Mujib was released from custody and Agartala Conspiracy Case was dropped”, he reminded. Had this not happened, history might have been different, he said.
He questioned: Is receiving large-scale foreign funding, including from Indians and Israelis, not treason? Is obstructing IMF from releasing loans not treason? Is openly ridiculing state institutions not treason? Is running an advertising campaign against national institutions in an American newspaper not treason? Is attacking military installations not treason?
