ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid a surprise visit to the Parliament Lodges on Friday to inspect the ongoing construction of the 104 additional family suites and servant quarters -- a project that had remained stalled for many years.

The NA speaker was briefed in detail about the current status of the project, which was originally initiated in 2011 and scheduled for completion in 2013, but faced unprecedented delays due to the negligence and inefficiency of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the contractor.

He took special interest in reviving this long-pending initiative and formally requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allocate funds for its immediate resumption. Subsequently, the PM directed the Ministry of Finance to release the required funds. The ministry released the necessary financial resources to restart the long-delayed construction work.
