300kg of hashish seized in Mardan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department on Friday thwarted a large-scale smuggling attempt in Mardan and recovered 300,000 grams of high-quality hashish concealed in a container.

Acting under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs, the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) conducted the successful operation on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, said an official communique issued here.

The operation was led by Provincial In-charge Excise Intelligence Bureau, Saud Khan Gandapur and Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter-Narcotics Operations), Majid Khan.The team, including Inspectors Zarjan Khan and Ajmal Lodhi along with other field staff, acted swiftly on a tip-off and intercepted a suspicious Mazda Titan vehicle on Ring Road, Mardan.A thorough search of the vehicle revealed several concealed compartments inside the mounted container, from which a huge quantity of hashish was recovered.
