LAHORE:Six suspects were killed in a series of alleged police encounters carried out by the Crime Control Department (CCD) in multiple areas of the provincial capital, on Tuesday.
According to police, the encounters took place in Green Town, Kahna, Civil Lines, Cantt, Model Town and Iqbal Town. The deceased were identified as Asif, Mohsin, Fareed, Farooq, Ramzan Dogar and Waseem.
Police stated that the suspects were being taken for the recovery of narcotics when their accomplices opened fire on the police team. The suspects were killed by the firing of their own associates, officials claimed. Bodies were shifted to the morgue.
Shopkeeper stabbed to death over trivial issue A shopkeeper was stabbed to death following a minor dispute that turned violent in the Baghbanpura area on Tuesday. According to initial police reports, the accused identified as Insaf had come to the shop of the victim, Umar Hayat, and asked to lend him goods, but he refused to accommodate him. The refusal allegedly infuriated the accused, who attacked Umar Hayat with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting serious injuries, particularly to his head. The injured man was rushed to hospital for medical treatment but he died. Police shifted the body to the morgue. A case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Ghulam Qadir, naming the accused involved in the fatal attack.
