For the past few decades, various political movements and organisations have unjustly associated Islam with terrorism. However, the world is now witnessing the true face of terrorism via Israel’s brutal genocide and occupation of the Palestinians. Driven by a dangerously expansionist agenda of establishing a ‘Greater Israel’, this regime has extended its aggression beyond Palestine, attacking regions in Syria and Lebanon as well. Despite being the aggressor, it plays the victim. Fortunately, the compass of terrorism is now gradually shifting away from Muslims and turning toward those who truly perpetrate violence and are rightly deserving of this label. A notable example of this changing tide is the election of a Muslim mayor in New York City – the location of the 9/11 attacks and, arguably, the birthplace of modern Islamophobia.
This victory reflects a broader recognition of Muslim contributions, resilience and leadership as voters ignored Islamophobic attacks on Zohran Mamdani and praised his criticism of Israel. In an era where truth can no longer be masked by manipulated narratives, the global community is beginning to question long held prejudices. As awareness spreads and injustices are exposed, the real face of terrorism is being exposed in the form of Zionist Israel and its ruthless leadership.
