Recently, I visited a government hospital and the experience made me realise how urgently our healthcare system needs attention and improvement. When I entered the hospital, the first thing I noticed was a doctor selling medicines inside the facility. This immediately raised concerns because hospitals are supposed to provide treatment, not act as shops for personal profit. I waited for several minutes before a doctor finally called my name. When I entered the room, I explained my illness in detail, hoping for a proper check-up. However, the doctor simply handed me a list of medicines and instructed me to buy them and take them on time. I asked him politely whether he would check my blood or conduct any tests to confirm the problem.

He claimed that the doctor responsible for blood examinations was absent for the day, so no tests could be done. This response made me feel disappointed because hospitals should have backup staff, especially for important tests. Such situations show that many government hospitals lack discipline, honesty and proper management. Therefore, it is extremely important for the government and health authorities to monitor hospitals regularly, ensure that doctors perform their duties responsibly and take action against those who misuse their positions.
