KP Bar Council election results announced

ABBOTTABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has announced the official results of the 28 newly elected members from across the province in an election contested by 106 candidates.

According to the results, Haripur’s Syed Shahid Mehboob Advocate emerged as the highest vote-getter in KP, securing 1,158 votes to defeat Asadullah Malik, who received 854 votes.Abbottabad’s Syed Shah Faisal secured the second-highest votes province-wide with 1,006 ballots, while Khizzer Hayat from Peshawar followed with 991 votes, making him the third-highest scorer in the 2025 KP Bar Council polls.

Peshawar saw the most intense competition, with 37 candidates contesting multiple seats. The seven elected members from Peshawar are: Khizzer Hayat (991), Sofia Noreen (941), Muhammad Rafique Mohmand (919), Ali Zaman (898), Fazal-e-Wahid (892), Baber Khan Yousafzai (845), and Muhammad Saeed (854).

From Charsadda/ Mohmand, Faraz Khan won the lone seat with 862 votes. In Nowshera, Fida Muhammad Afridi secured victory with 791 votes. Mardan’s two seats were taken by Asfandyar Khan (510) and Zar Badshah (501).

The Swabi seat went to Syed Mubashir Shah with 784 votes. For Hangu/ Orakzai/Khurram, Malik Imdad-e-Azam won with 347 votes, while for Karak, Ahmed Farooq Khattak secured the seat with 452 votes.

The combined seats of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and South Waziristan were won by Ahmed Ali (616) and Sardar Hashmat Nawaz Sadozai (625), where seven candidates were in the running.

The Bannu/North Waziristan seat was claimed by Shah Hussain with 724 votes, while Lakki Marwat was won by Muhammad Farooq Sabir, who polled 828 votes. Both Abbottabad seats were retained by former KP Bar Council members: Muhammad Ali Khan Jadoon (783) and Syed Shah Faisal (1,006).

The two seats for Mansehra and Battagram went to Sardar Waqar ul Mulk (931) and Waqas Raza Khan (843).The Mingora (Swat) seat was bagged by Innayatullah Khan with 708 votes, and the Shangla (Alpuri) seat by Fawad Ahmed Khan with 805 votes. The combined Daggar (Buner)-Malakand (Batkhela) seat was won by Said Hakim. The seat for Timergara (Dir), Dir Bala, and Bajaur went to Shah Faisal with 755 votes, while Upper and Lower Chitral elected Ikram Hussain with 824 votes.

This year’s KP Bar Council elections witnessed robust participation across the province, with 106 candidates vying for 28 seats, reflecting broad geographic representation and the diverse composition of the legal fraternity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Meanwhile, the schedule for the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) elections for the upcoming five-year term has been formally announced by Attorney-General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, who will also serve as the returning officer. Candidates must submit letters of proposal and nomination papers to the returning officer by November 25 before 2 pm.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on December 2, while December 5 is the final date for withdrawal of candidature.Polling is scheduled for December 13, and official results will be announced on December 22. The returning officer’s office will operate from the Pakistan Bar Council headquarters in the Supreme Court Building on Constitution Avenue, Islamabad.
