PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP)-affiliated Malgari Wakeelan achieved a clear lead by winning 13 out of 28 seats while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Insaf lawyers Forum (ILF) secured only five seats and three candidates were elected as independents as the unofficial results of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council elections (2026–30) were announced on Sunday.
Malgari Wakeelan candidates were declared successful from Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Karak. Out of seven seats in Peshawar, Malgari Wakeelan won four, ILF won two, and one independent candidate was successful. According to the unofficial results, Malgari Wakeelan’s Khizar Hayat Khazana Advocate secured the highest number of votes (926), followed by Fazal Wahid Advocate with 893 votes. From the ILF, Sofia Noreen received 880 votes and Ali Zaman Advocate 875 votes, both winning their seats.
Independent candidate Muhammad Saeed was also declared successful with 828 votes, while independent woman candidate Khushnooda Majid Marwat also won a seat. Malgari Wakeelan’s Babar Khan Yousafzai secured 792 votes to clinch victory. In other districts, Malgari Wakeelan maintained their lead — Syed Mubashir Shah from Swabi, Zar Badshah Advocate from Mardan, and Ahmad Farooq Khattak from Karak were declared successful. From Malakand, Buner, Pakistan People’s Party’s People’s Lawyers Forum candidate Syed Hakeem was successful, while Hashmat won from Dera Ismail Khan.
Jamiat Lawyers Forum’s Fawad Khan and Waqar-ul-Malik also secured victories on their respective seats. Muslim Lawyers Forum–supported candidate Muhammad Ali Khan won from Abbottabad, and Islamic Lawyers Forum’s Ikram Hussain was declared successful from Chitral. Among the independents, Fida Gul Afridi and Muhammad Saeed remained prominent.
TIMERGARA: Shah Faisal Yousafzai, Advocate of ‘Malgari Wakeelan’ district bar Timergara was elected member KP Bar Council on the Lower Dir Upper Dir and Bajur seat for five years.
