LAHORE:A 30-year-old woman lost her life in a road accident late last night while crossing Ichhara-Ferozepur Road.
According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was attempting to cross the road near the busy Ichhara-Ferozepur Road intersection when a speeding motorcycle struck her leaving her critically injured. Bystanders rushed to her aid and called emergency services. The injured woman was immediately transported to hospital where despite the efforts of medical staff, she died. Police shifted body to morgue. This tragic incident adds to the growing list of traffic-related casualties in Lahore, where citizens continue to face life-threatening dangers due to rash driving and poor enforcement of traffic regulations. Motorcyclists, in particular, have come under criticism for their frequent violation of speed limits, with Canal Road and Ferozepur Road becoming hotspots for fatal accidents. Residents and commuters of the area voiced their anger and frustration, blaming traffic authorities for the lack of strict oversight and proper pedestrian safety measures. ‘There are no footbridges or proper crossings in many parts of the City, and traffic signals are often ignored,’ said a motorist near the accident site.
