An Indian bride ended her marriage within 20 minutes of arriving at her in-laws’ house, complaining about their behaviour during the wedding rituals, Indian media reported.
A bride from the Deoria district of India's Uttar Pradesh state found her in-laws’ different behaviour during the ritual of Dulha Chehra Dikhai (showing face) to family members and neighbourhood.
Subsequently, she stopped the ritual and urged her in-laws to call her parents.
Upon their arrival, the woman’s parents and husband tried to convince her, but her stubbornness led the matter to the local panchayat, which, after five hours of consideration, announced its decision in favour of the woman.
After the panchayat verdict, the marriage was ended on mutual consent, and gifts were returned from both sides.
The bride departed with her parents while the incident was reported to the concerned complaint cell.
The police have also confirmed the incident, stating that the incident was not taken as a police case, as both parties accepted the separation decision with mutual understanding.
