Born on 28 November 1987 in Inverness, Scotland.
Is an only child.
Took piano lessons as a kid.
Studied acting in her teens.
Made her acting debut in an episode of the British crime drama Rebus (2006).
Appeared in the sketch comedy series The Kevin Bishop Show (2008 – 2009), the horror project The Well (2009), and the television film Stacked (2008) before getting her breakthrough when she was cast as Amy Pond in the popular sci-fi series Doctor Who (2010 – 2013).
Earned global recognition for portraying Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2014 – 2023).
Has also appeared in films including The Party’s Just Beginning (2018), Gunpowder Milkshake (2021), Dual (2022), Late Bloomers (2023), The Life of Chuck (2024), and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) as well as its sequel Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
Upcoming projects include an untitled Jumanji sequel (2026) and the comedy film Let’s Have Kids! (TBD).
Has been married to American comedian Nick Kocher since 2022. They have a daughter, Clementine (born in December 2024).

In early production, Paul Reubens was reportedly going to voice the Sandman, but he passed away in 2023. The role eventually went to Omid Djalili.
