FTO appoints professionals to strengthen taxpayer consultation

Islamabad: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Zafar Hijazi on Friday inducted professionals from tax, trade, accountancy, legal, business and consultancy fields into the regional advisory committees to strengthen stakeholder consultation and address recurring problems in tax administration.

According to official notifications issued by the FTO Secretariat, the appointments have been made under Section 18 of the FTO Ordinance, 2000. The committees have been constituted for Balochistan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh regions.

The members have been appointed on the recommendations of concerned chambers of commerce and industry, tax bar associations, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan, women chambers, legal practice and tax consultancy sectors. The committees will serve as consultative forums for stakeholder engagement and will advise the FTO on matters relating to its role and functions.
