Islamabad: In a bid to reinforce public safety, the Islamabad Police have launched a series of large-scale combing and search operations across various sectors of the capital.

The district-wide grand security drive was initiated on the direct orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to ensure foolproof security in the city. The operations were executed under the direct supervision of respective zonal SPs within the jurisdictions of several key police stations, including Sihala, Shalimar, Aabpara, Khanna, Shahzad Town, Golra, and Noon.

Dedicated contingents of lady police officers also actively participated in the sweeps alongside fellow law enforcement personnel. According to an official police spokesperson, the extensive security checking involved the screening of 425 individuals and the formal verification of 226 households.

Furthermore, police personnel inspected 26 hotels and 76 commercial shops while scanning 211 motorcycles and 82 vehicles for potential security risks. By the conclusion of the initial phase of the operation, law enforcement officials detained 15 suspicious individuals and impounded 17 motorcycles, transferring both the suspects and the vehicles to their respective police stations for background verification.

To complement the search operations, the capital police have established special checking points at all primary entry and exit points of the city. All the patrolling units and specialised squads have been placed on high alert and remain on active duty across Islamabad to maintain a strict vigil.

The police spokesperson urged the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement personnel during routine security checks and to promptly report any unusual or suspicious activity to the authorities.
