Islamabad:A delegation of officers from various government organizations, currently undergoing the Project Management Certificate Program at the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad visited the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Operational Control Room of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), says a press release.
On the occasion, Project Director AMI, Mohsin Raza Gilani, Deputy Director AMI, Imran, along with other IESCO officers, gave the delegation a comprehensive briefing on the objectives of the AMI Project, the latest smart metering system, its operational framework, and the significance of the project in modernizing the power distribution system.
During the briefing, the delegation was informed that the AMI Project is a major technology-driven initiative that enables real-time monitoring of electricity consumption, remote meter reading, reduction of line losses, prevention of electricity theft, greater transparency in the billing system, and improved customer service delivery.
The visiting officers also visited various sections of the AMI Operational Centre, where they observed the practical functioning of the smart metering system, data monitoring mechanisms, and control room operations. They appreciated IESCO’s effective use of modern technology and its digital transformation initiatives in the power distribution sector, describing the project as a model worthy of emulation by other public sector organizations.
At the conclusion of the visit, an interactive question-and-answer session was held during which participants received detailed information on various technical and administrative aspects of the AMI Project.
