Rawalpindi:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) destroys 2,800 liters of adulterated and unsafe milk and imposes a fine of Rs50,000.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, during the blockade at the Motorway Toll Plaza early Friday morning, 5,000 liters of milk in a milk truck were tested using modern equipment, in which 2,800 liters of milk were found to be unfit for human consumption due to adulteration.
The defective and adulterated milk was destroyed on the spot to prevent it from being sold in the market. A fine of Rs50,000 was also imposed on the owner of the milk truck for supplying milk, while further legal action was also taken as per the food safety laws.
The spokesperson appealed to the citizens to immediately report any complaints related to food quality, adulteration or substandard food items on the Punjab Food Authority helpline 1223.
