PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Department has fully operationalised its Digital Medicines and Vaccines Procurement and Distribution Framework, introducing a technology-driven system that enables end-to-end tracking of medicines and vaccines from procurement to delivery to farmers.

The milestone was reviewed during a visit by Secretary of Livestock Zariful Maani to the provincial medicines and vaccines warehouses and cold chain facilities, where he inspected the implementation of the newly introduced digital framework.

Speaking on the occasion, Zarif said the system digitally manages the entire supply chain, including procurement, quality assurance, warehousing, cold chain monitoring, distribution and administration of medicines and vaccines, making every stage fully traceable and transparent.

During the visit, he reviewed the department’s live digital dashboard, which provided real-time information on procurement and stock positions, warehouse and cold chain management, district-wise supply and utilization records, as well as the administration of medicines and vaccines to livestock owners.

To verify the credibility of the system, the secretary randomly selected records from the districts of Bajaur, Mohmand and Kohat. Farmer and animal details were retrieved from the digital dashboard, after which officials made live phone calls to the beneficiaries to confirm whether they had received the medicines and vaccines.

The verification confirmed that the medicines and vaccines had been delivered to the intended beneficiaries exactly as recorded in the digital system, demonstrating the transparency and accountability of the new framework.

The secretary appreciated the efforts of the department’s teams in both the settled and merged districts for successfully implementing what he described as a landmark governance reform.

The official said the framework would ensure that every medicine and vaccine supplied by the department could be digitally tracked throughout the supply chain, improving efficiency, reducing the risk of leakages and strengthening accountability in public service delivery.

He said that the initiative is among the governance reforms completed under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary’s Good Governance Roadmap, aimed at promoting digital transformation, institutional transparency and improved delivery of public services in the province.
