‘Pakistan, Somalia enjoy longstanding ties’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Somalia enjoy longstanding and cordial relations rooted in mutual trust, shared values and close people-to-people contacts, with both countries committed to expanding cooperation in trade, education, defence, maritime security and capacity building, speakers said on Wednesday.

They expressed these views at an event held to commemorate Somalia’’s Independence Day, organized by the Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) in collaboration with the Pakistan Africa Institute for Development and Research (PAIDAR).

Speakers included Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman, BoG, ISSI; Ambassador Sheikhnur Mohamed Hassan, Ambassador of Somalia to Pakistan; Ambassador Aqsa Nawaz, Ambassador of Pakistan to Djibouti, accredited to Somalia, and Dr. Amina Khan, Director CAMEA.The chief guest on the occasion was Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, President PAIDAR.
