PESHAWAR: A woman was killed and six people, including three girls, were wounded when a projectile fired from a suspected drone hit a house in Pastawuni village of Hassankhel area of Peshawar district late Tuesday night.
This was the first suspected drone attack on a house in Peshawar. The anti-drone system was activated in the city after the incident.
A case registered at the Hassankhel Police Station on the complaint of Munawwar stated that terrorists carried out the drone attack around midnight by firing projectiles at the house. Four women and three men were injured in the attack. Shamim, 45, wife of Munawwar, later died at the hospital from her injuries.
The wounded included Munawwar, his father Sher Mast, his daughter, his nephew and two nieces. Police registered a case under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act. According to the first information report, the incident occurred at 11:40pm.
Police officials declined to comment on the incident.
Drone attacks have mostly been reported in Bannu and the southern districts over the past several months. A drone was also reportedly shot down in the Khyber district.
