Islamabad: The women teachers serving in Islamabad’s public colleges regulated by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has approached the Islamabad High Court, seeking the grant of Higher Time Scale, which they claim has been unlawfully withheld despite their eligibility since 2024.
The petition was filed through lawyer Hafiz Muhammad Mazhar Iqbal on behalf of Assistant Headmistress Farzana Akram. According to the petitioners, the teachers became eligible for Higher Time Scale in 2024 but have yet to receive the financial benefit.
Their counsel argued that the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training had convened a meeting and granted Higher Time Scale to many other eligible teachers, while the petitioners were denied the same benefit without any lawful justification.
The petition contends that the unequal treatment is discriminatory and has caused financial loss to the affected teachers. It requests the court to direct the respondents to grant Higher Time Scale to the petitioners from the date of their eligibility, along with all consequential benefits.
The case came up for hearing before the court of Justice Inaam Amin Minhas on Tuesday. After hearing the initial arguments, the judge issued notices to the respondents and sought their para-wise comments on the petition.
