Islamabad:Jang Media Group’s annual flagship The News Education Expo made a vibrant return to the federal capital on Tuesday as hundreds of eager students and parents flocked to the Serena Hotel to explore a world of academic opportunities both at home and abroad.
The bustling one-day event brought together leading educational institutions under one roof, offering visitors direct access to admission guidance, programme details and expert counselling.
Several stalls also highlighted exciting higher education prospects overseas, making the expo a comprehensive platform for career-conscious youth. The first edition of the expo was held in Karachi on June 20 and 21. Following the Islamabad stop, it will now move to Faisalabad on July 9 at Royalton Hotel, followed by Lahore on July 18 and 19 at the Expo Centre, Multan on July 22 at Multan Marquee and Peshawar on September 10 at Sheraz Arena.
A senior member of the organising committee said around 30 leading educational institutions participated in the expo. “The Jang Group has been organising this expo for the last 16-17 years across six major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan and Faisalabad,” said Jang Media Group Director (marketing) Syed Amjad Ali.
“Around 15-20 key clients participate in all the cities, starting from Karachi, followed by Islamabad and the rest.” He said that the Expo went far beyond simply helping with university admissions as it functioned as a powerful nation-building platform, enabling students to showcase their projects, network with industry professionals and gain access to resources that would boost their future careers.
The stallholders featured a distinguished lineup of leading educational institutions and organisations, including FAST National University, the British Council, Higher Education Commission, Riphah University, Roots IVY International College, Hamdard University, NUMS, International Islamic University, Foundation University and Quaid-i-Azam University, among several others.
Now in its 16th year, The News Education Expo has established itself as one of the most anticipated education events in the country, consistently helping thousands of students make informed decisions about their academic futures. The nationwide tour continues to serve as a vital bridge between aspiring students and top-tier universities.
Students were particularly impressed by the event’s all-in-one format, which provided complete guidance on every aspect of higher education, from mapping out the right academic path and selecting suitable subjects and institutions to exploring emerging career opportunities.
A-Level student Naseema Khan, who is looking for scholarships to study abroad, praised the expo for giving her valuable information on financial aid options available through various countries, organisations and universities.
“This event is an outstanding platform that offers clear insights into university admissions, scholarships, campus facilities and future career prospects,” she said. Tasneem Ahmad, a BA student hoping to pursue a master’s degree in Media Studies overseas, highlighted the convenience of having multiple international university stalls in one place. He noted that some even allowed on-the-spot registrations, which saved both time and money.
He also commended the Jang Media Group for choosing an easily accessible venue and holding the expo during the summer break, enabling a large number of students to participate.
Kamil Sikandar, who recently passed his intermediate exams, appreciated the expo as a highly valuable initiative, which, he said, provided him and other young students with essential insights into higher education opportunities.
He thanked the Jang Group for successfully bringing numerous top institutions together under one roof. "This expo has proved extremely helpful in clarifying my options for further studies," he said.
Parents accompanying their children also lauded the organisers, noting that the expo offered valuable, up-to-date information on both national and international universities, not just for students but for parents as well.
Stallholders expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout and enthusiastic engagement at the expo, saying the event provided an effective platform to connect with prospective students and showcase their institutions' academic strengths.
NUML director (academics and admissions) Prof Dr Nadeem Talib praised the Jang Group's longstanding efforts to guide students towards the right career paths and help educational institutions identify talent and said its educational initiatives set an example for others.
He emphasised that investing in Pakistan's youth, who made up over 60 per cent of the population, was vital to the country's future growth and development. Prof Dr Nadeem also said NUML's pursuit of academic excellence, innovation and knowledge-driven learning had positioned it to prepare students for the challenges of the future while fostering ethical, disciplined and socially responsible graduates in a supportive environment.
He said NUML was committed to equipping students to excel in their respective fields and make meaningful contributions to society. Ghulam Hasan from My University was pleased by the overwhelming response from visitors. He said that he and his team took full advantage of the opportunity to brief students on the university’s academic programmes, generous scholarship schemes, curricular and extracurricular activities, notable alumni and bright career prospects.
