QUETTA: A woman was admitted to hospital after allegedly suffering severe violence at the hands of her husband in Quetta, in an incident that has sparked outrage and prompted immediate action from the Balochistan government.
According to official sources, the victim, identified as Shahida Mukhtar, was reportedly subjected to brutal physical assault and shifted to hospital for medical treatment. The incident once again highlights the growing concern over domestic violence against women and the urgent need for stronger protection mechanisms.
Taking swift notice of the case, the Balochistan government ordered the registration of an FIR against the accused husband and initiated legal proceedings. Shahid Rind, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Political and Media Affairs, said the action was taken on the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. He said Personal Staff Officer Syed Amin immediately contacted police authorities, leading to the registration of the case.
Shahid Rind said the Chief Minister had directed authorities to ensure a transparent, impartial and merit-based investigation, warning that no one found responsible would be given any leniency.
He said violence, harassment and abuse against women in any form were unacceptable, adding that the provincial government was committed to ensuring timely justice for the victim and strict punishment for those involved in accordance with the law. The case has drawn public attention as calls continue to grow for stronger safeguards for women facing domestic abuse in Balochistan.
