Islamabad:Education secretary Nadeem Mahbub visited the upgraded Physics, Chemistry and Biology labs at the Islamabad Model College of Boys F-8/4 along with Federal Directorate of Education director general Javed Iqbal Mirza and deputy DG Asif Niazi.

He appreciated the quality of civil work and gave suggestions. In first phase, 30 science laboratories are being comprehensively renovated, modernised and made operational. Asif Niazi, who is also the project director, informed the secretary that as per his directions, the physics labs were being designed and equipped in such a way that they would also be utilised as STEM labs for the students of science and robotics.

He said the transformative project represented a significant shift from conventional laboratory environments towards modern, technology-enabled scientific learning spaces. "This upgradation also includes the procurement of state-of-the-art scientific equipment, high-precision apparatus, digital learning tools and advanced safety systems to ensure the highest standards of scientific instruction and laboratory operations. These facilities are equipped to support project-based learning, practical experimentation and interdisciplinary scientific exploration, thereby strengthening students’ conceptual understanding and research capabilities," he said.

During the visit, the secretary said that the government was committed to providing students with access to advanced laboratory environments and contemporary scientific tools and modernise educational facilities to enhance learning outcomes and prepare them to meet the challenges and opportunities of the twenty-first century.
