LAHORE : Rescue-1122 provided emergency services to 54,247 mourners during 6,369 majalis and processions throughout the Punjab. Out of these, 52,731 mourners who sustained injuries due to flagellation were provided first aid and wound dressings at the site, while 1,516 individuals with severe injuries and deep cuts were shifted to hospitals for specialised medical treatment.
The Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer while chairing a post-Muharram review meeting here on Saturday, commended the dedication and professionalism of the rescuers of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) for ensuring comprehensive emergency medical cover during Muharram across the province.
Dr Rizwan highlighted that Rescue-1122 maintained uninterrupted emergency services during Muharram and responded to more than 67,610 emergencies across Punjab alongside providing medical cover to religious gatherings from 1st to 10th Muharram.
The meeting was attended by the directors, heads of the wings of Emergency Services Department and senior officers of Emergency Services Headquarters.
On this occasion, head of operations briefed the Secretary Emergency Services that emergency plans for Muharram were implemented in close coordination with deputy commissioners in all districts of Punjab. More than 6,369 processions/events were provided emergency cover to Muharram processions with 12,000 rescuers, 896 ambulances, 2,300 rescue motorbikes and 316 fire & rescue emergency vehicles during Muharram in all districts of Punjab.
He also briefed in detail about the emergency cover provided in each district of Punjab during Muharram. Besides this, Rescue 1122 also responded over 67,610 emergencies during Muharram, which included 47,726 medical emergencies, 12,189 road traffic accidents, 840 fire incidents and 13,224 other miscellaneous emergencies.
The head of operations briefed that timely emergency medical services were provided to 54,247 mourners in Majalis and processions across Punjab.
The highest number of 3,631 mourners received emergency medical assistance in Multan, followed by 3,190 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 3,053 in Faisalabad, 2,847 in Hafizabad, 2,506 in Muzaffargarh, 2,478 in Jhang and 2,305 in Sheikhupura, while 33,936 mourners were provided emergency services in the remaining districts of Punjab.
