BANNU: At least five persons were killed and two others, including a woman and a minor girl, were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire in the Shabri Kalla Bhart area here, police officials said on Thursday.
They said that the police personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and found five bodies and two injured persons inside a house.The deceased were identified as Junaid and Sunaid, sons of Rais Khan; their mother, the widow of Rais Khan; Amjad, son of Mir Nawaz, a resident of Shabri Kalla Bhart, and Alam Zeb, son of Noor Rahman, a resident of Mir Ali.
Police said that 17-year-old Sonia and nine-year-old Ayesha sustained injuries in the firing and were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials of Mandan Police Station said preliminary investigations suggest that unidentified assailants opened fire and killed the victims for reasons yet to be determined.
Following the incident, police registered a case against unidentified accused on the complaint of the SHO Mandan and launched an investigation to trace and arrest those involved.
