LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Punjab Police, has reported that 182 Category-A and 345 Category-B processions, along with 322 Category-A and 832 Category-B majalis were held across the province on the 7th of Muharram under intensified security arrangements, heightened surveillance and coordinated deployment of law enforcement agencies.

Despite the scale of religious gatherings proceeding largely in an orderly manner, the CTD documented a series of violations related to security protocols and public safety measures, including misuse of loudspeakers (18 incidents), time violations (six cases), an innovation related violation and one additional violation reported from Sargodha. The incidents were recorded across Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur regions, with separate violations also noted in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sargodha and Sahiwal. In response, three FIRs were registered—one in Sheikhupura and two in Dera Ghazi Khan—while further enforcement action was taken where required.

Officials said that the CTD undertook nine intelligence based operations (IBOs), 173 special combing operations, surveillance of 28 individuals listed under the Fourth Schedule, monitoring of 291 WLPs, 57 CSVS activities and 40 cover operations as part of province-wide security measures. The Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) wing continued active monitoring of social media platforms for sectarian and hate related content, generating actionable intelligence and maintaining sustained enforcement pressure.
