ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to receive on Monday (today) its seventh LNG cargo since regional tensions intensified following the Iran-US conflict, as the country continues efforts to secure adequate gas supplies. The LNG carrier MRAIKH is scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Monday carrying 170,148 cubic metres of LNG from Ras Laffan, Qatar, under a long-term contract priced at 13.37 per cent of Brent crude.
According to shipping details, the vessel departed from Ras Laffan, Qatar, and is expected to reach Port Qasim’s outer anchorage around 6:00am local time before berthing at PGPL terminal for cargo discharge.
Officials said the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) played a key role in arranging five LNG cargoes from QatarEnergy since late April to ensure uninterrupted supplies amid uncertainty in regional energy markets.
With the arrival of MRAIKH, Pakistan will have received seven LNG cargoes since late April as authorities move to safeguard energy supplies and mitigate risks arising from geopolitical instability in the region.
