SUKKUR: Two policemen were shot dead while on duty by unidentified motorcyclists on Bapra Road near Gharo city in Thatta, SSP confirmed.
The reports said that two armed motorcyclists suddenly appeared at the scene and opened fire at the policemen, killing them on the spot. After the attack, the assailants fled the scene, taking away the official weapons assigned to the slain officers.
The deceased policemen were identified as Akbar and Majeed Marri, both serving in the police Thatta after being transferred from home district Tando Allahyar.
The bodies were shifted to Gharo Hospital, where necessary legal and medical formalities were completed. Later, the bodies were dispatched to their native district for burial.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the attackers.
SSP Thatta Sajid Ameer Sudaozai confirmed the murder of the two policeman and said that killers are being searched and assured to arrest them.
