LANDIKOTAL: A delegation of traders met with Iranian Consul General in Peshawar Ali Banafshekhah on Saturday and discussed trade and commerce opportunities between Pakistan and Iran.

The delegation, led by Pak Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice president Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, visited the consulate on the invitation of the Iranian consul general.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade relations and exploring new avenues of economic cooperation.

The delegation presented various proposals aimed at increasing trade cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, with particular emphasis on expanding bilateral trade.

The participants agreed on several key recommendations, including the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce between Pakistan and Iran to promote business-to-business relations and facilitate traders.

The meeting stressed the need for signing a transit trade agreement between the two countries to ensure smoother movement of goods and enhance regional connectivity.

The participants recommended that both governments work towards a free trade agreement to boost exports and trade.

The delegation noted that Pakistan and Iran, as neighbouring countries connected through regional routes, had immense potential to boost trade, reduce dependence on distant markets and provide cost-effective transportation opportunities.
