International boxing coaching ends on a high note

ISLAMABAD: The six-day Pakistan-Kazakhstan Boxing Skills Clinic concluded in Islamabad, marking another significant step in strengthening sporting ties between the two countries and enhancing the technical development of Pakistani boxers ahead of future international assignments.

Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and Pakistan Olympic Association Secretary General Khalid Mahmood attended the closing ceremony as chief guests. Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) President Lt. Col. (R) Muhammad Nasir Ijaz Tung, hockey legend Olympian Samiullah Khan, Secretary Army Fitness and Sports Directorate Col. Nabeel Ahmad Rana, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan Olzhas Alimbayev, PBF Secretary Major Irfan Younis and other sports officials were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and Khalid Mahmood described the joint initiative as a milestone in promoting boxing and strengthening sports relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. They said the clinic had provided valuable international exposure to Pakistani athletes and coaches, expressing confidence that the knowledge gained would help improve the country’s competitiveness at the international level.

Wani reiterated the government’s commitment to the promotion of boxing and assured continued support to the Pakistan Boxing Federation. He said the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination would provide all possible assistance for the development of the sport and the welfare of athletes.

PBF President Lt. Col. (R) Muhammad Nasir Ijaz Tung thanked the Kazakh coaches and experts for sharing their expertise with Pakistani boxers. He noted that the advanced techniques and modern training methods introduced during the programme would play an important role in preparing national boxers for upcoming international competitions.

The clinic brought together male and female national-level boxers and coaches from across the country. During the programme, Kazakh experts conducted technical workshops, tactical training sessions, practical demonstrations and specialised coaching classes, offering participants valuable insight into international boxing standards.
