KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested a key suspect allegedly involved in a large-scale hawala/hundi network during a raid in thr Nazimabad area.
The operation was conducted on the directives of the Director FIA Karachi Zone and the Deputy Director of the FIA Commercial Banks Circle (CBC) Karachi as part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal trade of foreign currencies and unauthorised hawala/hundi operations.
During the raid, the FIA’s Commercial Banks Circle team apprehended Faisal alias Lashkari, who wsd believed to be a central figure in the illegal financial network. Officials said a substantial amount of foreign currency was recovered from the suspect’s possession.
Investigators also seized ledger registers, mobile phones and records containing details of alleged hawala/hundi transactions. In addition, cheque books, signed cheques and other important documents deemed relevant to the investigation were taken into custody.
