A judicial magistrate on Friday remanded two suspects, said to be associates of alleged cocaine dealer Anmol alias Pinky, in police custody for questioning in a drug case.
Aqib Rehman and Ghulam Mustafa have been arrested by the Boat Basin police after cocaine and ‘ice’ (crystal meth) were allegedly recovered from their possession in Clifton, Block 6, on Thursday.
The investigating officer produced the suspects before the judicial magistrate (South) and sought their 10-day physical remand for interrogation. The IO stated that the suspects are required to be interrogated about the alleged crime and to fullfil legal formalities, including checking their criminal record. He said that Pinky, who is in jail on judicial remand in two dozen cases, has not been arrested in the present case yet, adding that she would be arrested with the court’s permission.
After hearing the IO, the magistrate handed over the suspects to the police on two-day physical remand. An FIR has been lodged against the suspects at the Boat Basin police station under the relevant sections of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024 on behalf of state.
During initial questioning, the police said both suspects admitted to working for Anmol alias Pinky’s manager, Hassan, who, they said, would contact them through WhatsApp, provide them with stuff, and assign locations where the drugs were to be delivered.
