ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to submit power of attorney and a miscellaneous application for early hearing in a case pertaining to access for the family members and personal physician of former PTI chairman Imran Khan and his transfer to Shifa Hospital. Similarly, in the case concerning restrictions on his meetings, the court issued notices to the parties and sought responses within three weeks. A three-member bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, heard a petition filed through Advocate Uzair Bhandari. The counsel argued that three-and-a-half months had passed, and the appeal remained pending for numbering in the Supreme Court for one month, and for the past two months, the petitioner’s power of attorney had not been received. The court inquired whether the power of attorney was being submitted today, to which the lawyer responded that initially, due to the absence of power of attorney, the appeal had been filed through a special power of attorney. The court stated that if an early hearing was required, a formal application for urgent hearing should be filed. During the hearing at the same bench in a related matter, the party’s General Secretary Salman Akram Raja appeared and argued that despite the Islamabad High Court’s order of March 24, 2025, permission for meetings with Imran Khan was not being granted and the court’s decision had not yet been implemented. The court directed that the high court’s order of October 23, 2025, also be placed on record and, while instructing that the appeals be scheduled for hearing within three weeks, adjourned further proceedings. Meanwhile, Salman Akram Raja strongly condemned the Supreme Court administration’s action of evicting journalists from the press room.
