RAWALPINDI: A six-year-old child who fell into a drain near Kacha Stop on IJP Road has not been traced yet. Rescue water teams searching for the child have not been able to trace the child despite passage of 24 hours.
The child was swept away in a drain near Kacha Stop after rain on Wednesday evening. Rescue teams reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. However, the operation that started after the incident continued on Thursday as well, but no trace of the child could be found.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesman Usman Gujjar, search operations are continuing at different locations, but the rescue teams are facing difficulties due to underground drainage system.
However, the search operation will continue until the child is found. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Punjab, taking notice of the child's drowning incident, directed the Deputy Commissioner to supervise the rescue operation.
